Home Baking Association
The Home Baking Association is a non-profit corporation formed with the intent to promote year-round baking at home. Its membership is comprised of well-known baking related corporations, non-profit groups, and individuals representing the various common baking ingredients such as flour, yeast, sugar, baking powder, salt, cocoa/chocolate, eggs, dairy, and common baking mixes. While corporations being members is not insidious by itself, it is something to keep in mind when the recipe calls for a brand name ingredient (though they also include a “Provided by” link with each recipe so you know which company provided it). Still with its large and varied membership, this website is a good starting point for any baking related research you need to do.

In their words, their mission is to Promote home baking by providing educators tools and knowledge to perpetuate future generations of home bakers. They provide a section for educators, covering topics like reading nutrition labels and performing kitchen experiments to teach baking basics. The Home Baking Association also sponsors a Baking Educator Award every year. Top prize is $1,000 and an all expenses paid trip to Napa Valley, CA to the HBA annual meeting. Teachers, youth organization workers, and even other kids who teach baking to young people ages 6 to 18 are eligible.
