My Version of The Best Chocolate Chip Cookie

We all have them…those favorite recipes that we brag about being “the best”. The best salad dressing recipe, the best brownie recipe, the best potato salad recipe, etc. We are all full of recipes that we believe are the best of their kind. I have a recipe for chocolate chip cookies that I believe is one of the best out there. If you like cakey, thick chocolate chip cookies, keep searching for a recipe because this recipe will produce nothing of the sort. If you like your chocolate chip cookies to be chewy and soft with a slightly crisp outer edge, then look no further… this is the recipe for you.

I had tried recipe after recipe after recipe in search of that perfect chocolate chip cookie. I kept coming close, but never found “the one”. Then, one day a couple of years ago, my friend DeLynn called and told me that she finally had it…the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. She and her friend Lisa had stayed up all night one night trying to create the ultimate chocolate chip cookie and she believed they had succeeded. I was skeptical…not because I doubted DeLynn’s abilities in the kitchen, but because I have had my hopes up so many times and had faced disappointment time and time again when it came to chocolate chip cookies.

As soon as I got my hands on DeLynn’s recipe, I went to the kitchen and started mixing up the dough. When these little gems came out of the oven I was very hopeful. They certainly looked like perfection… not too thick, not too thin. Soft and chewy with a crispy outer edge. They passed the visual test but would they pass the taste test? One bite was all it took… Eureka! My quest for the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe had ended. This was it and I was thrilled.

This recipe is great not only because it is delicious but also because it makes a lot of cookies. The dough and the cookies freeze very well. I always have some of the dough balls frozen on hand for the occasion when I need to have a quick, homemade snack.

“The Best” is always very subjective… we all have unique tastes and opinions on how a certain food should be. If you are searching for a chocolate chip cookie that fits the description I have given above, I hope you will give this recipe a try. Maybe, just maybe, your quest for the best chocolate chip cookie can end right here.
