[...] so what’s so special about this normal-looking chocolate cake? first: its ingredients are a bit unusual. always a plus in my book– i love to make intriguing recipes. second: it’s surprisingly NOT a guilt-inducing dessert. third: it tastes absolutely wonderful. it comes across as so decadent and satisfying that it kind of amazed me. fourth: this cake is the cover photo of the cooking light annual recipes 2002 cookbook. and as we all know from the multitude of bloggers to bake dorie greenspan’s devil’s food white out cake, it’s very tough to get over a cover recipe until you actually make it. i’ve been wanting to taste this since i bought the cookbook at a used book store a few months back. thank GOODNESS i finally found the time to make it all happen.
