Make America Sweeter
Election Day is tomorrow, and the country is wrestling with some pretty weighty issues: a precarious economy, the war in Iraq, how we define ”life,” how we define ”marriage.” Thankfully, one issue we don’t have to tussle with anymore is the quandary over which makes a better dessert, Cake or Brownies. That one, my friends, has been solved.
This past summer, the Pillsbury Doughboy hit the campaign trail with select primary candidates, a tour culminating in a nail-biter of a general election, which found Cake and Brownies pitted against each other as the two favorites. Ultimately, Americans voted with their sweet tooth: with two-thirds of the country voting in their favor, Brownies were triumphant.
So, as we head to the polls tomorrow, we can be confident of one thing: Brownies are truly America’s sweetheart. We the people like our dessert, and we apparently like it to be fudgy, sweet, and dense.
Pillsbury invites you to take part in its Campaign for a Sweeter America. You can enter Pillsbury’s Make America Sweeter Contest by submitting a 100-word essay, accompanied by a photo or video, on ”How You Make America Sweeter” with Pillsbury baking products (flours or ready-made mixes or frosting). The prizes include a chance to win a $5,000 kitchen makeover! For more details and to enter, visit Pillsbury’s Make America Sweeter Contest site.
To get the know the winner, why not give Pillsbury’s Red, White, and Blueberry Brownies a try? They bake up quickly, leaving you plenty of time to get out there and vote!

I posted this on my blog, but since you mentioned the pillsbury dough boy, I thought I would re-post this here.
Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment
community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection
and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.
Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects,
including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies,
and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.
Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much
he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He
was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half baked schemes. Despite being
a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough and Dosey Dough,
plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held
at 3:50 for about 20 minutes. Rick b
